Excessive moisture content in concrete roofs are a major cause of failures in roof coatings. Even if the roof is dry when coatings are applied, water can migrate through open areas.
Problem: This concrete crack repair required a complete removal of the existing silicone coating. Since the initial striping as only 8" wide, moisture migrated from both sides and prevented the coating from adhering properly to the substrate.
Daily afternoon rains prevented the substrate from drying out completely.
Solution: Use a fast curing moisture block on the concrete as soon as the roof surface is stripped to bare concrete.
